Those who know me will vouch for my excessive organization skills and attention to detail. And yet, last week I don’t think a day went by when I didn’t send my husband a text along the lines of, “I forgot deodorant today”, “I left my lunch in the fridge today”, “I forgot to shave the 80 pound gorilla”.
Despite all that good time jolly stuff and great food and wine we managed to enjoy ourselves. Rob reminded us of something we know but don’t always remember (I blame traffic and stressful stuff like jobs): that everything in life can be and should be fun. Rob has one of the most positive outlooks of anyone I know and everywhere he goes he makes friends. Even among the sometimes jaded LA folk it is futile to attempt to deny his charms, even as he tells pretty ladies to ‘git ‘er done’.

Eventually we made it home and I found I’d actually enjoyed driving 55. Of course I could see the parallel to my own life, which is being lived at the highest rate of speed I can maintain. I know how stressful this lifestyle is and I’m pretty sure I can shake off my disdain for living in the slow lane if I try. But I’ll have to think about that later, right now I’ve got a million things to do in a short amount of time. Gotta go!
I really do yearn for some sort of teleportation device that would allow me to pop in for a quick hello any old time I felt like it. Oh, and back before I had my own washer and dryer, I really would have appreciated the use of my mom’s laundry services.
I say, bring on the gay weddings and please invite me. My favorite kind of cake is chocolate… just saying.
