The Aftermath

My cousin Rob has arrived from Canada for a week’s vacation in sunny Southern California, a welcome respite from the epic snow and wintery winterness of Western Canada. I’m very glad that I have some grown up furniture to impress him with so he doesn’t think that I live like some sort of bohemian hippie 30-something still living like a college student.

Yard Sale Folk

If you’re having a yard sale I hope you make a ton of cash. If you’re not having a yard sale then you might want to check and make sure you’re not a hoarder. Just kidding. I’m sure you’ll know if you’re a hoarder because the production team from Hoarders will arrive unannounced on your doorstep and tell you.

When Life was Simpler

Things weren’t perfect, though. Conor was between jobs and we didn’t have much money. Our early forays into home ownership had proven fruitless because we couldn’t afford so much as a fixer upper in the middle of Compton (whereas now we can afford a nice 3 bedroom in the heart of Compton with minimal bullet hole damage. Yay, us!) We hadn’t yet figured out the whole ‘when are we going to breed’ question to our mutual satisfaction and Conor kept nagging me about getting cats, which I was opposed to because I thought I’d end up having to do all the work of taking care of them.

Delicious Italian Food!

If you live in Los Angeles you probably shouldn’t go there. I don’t want to have trouble getting a table, it’s not a large restaurant. But if you’re visiting from out of town we will absolutely take you there. You’ll love it.

Week One of National Novel Writing Month

I woke up very early the day after Halloween and my story was percolating in my brain. Rather than enjoy the last few post dawn moments snuggled in the comfy bed of the Bed and Breakfast where Conor and I celebrated our 4th anniversary, I got up and started writing.
