Why complain about something that’s good?

For all the times I hear someone (and occasionally ‘someone’ is me) wishing we weren’t so connected to the internet there are far more times when I appreciate it and what it does for me. I am able to keep in more frequent touch with loved ones, like my cousin Erin in Canada, who is celebrating her birthday today. (Happy Birthday, Erin!) We keep in touch more often but we speak in person even less than we did before. International calls are expensive and it’s easier to converse on facebook sometimes. I feel guilty about using social media and the internet to keep in touch but then again, I am keeping in touch.

I made this!

He chose chocolate so I set about searching the intarwebs far and wide for recipes. I was looking for something with whole and real ingredients, such as butter instead of vegetable oil. If you’re going to make a cake, make a cake, you know? When it comes to baked goods a person should never mess around, yumminess is not to be trifled with.

Wow! The craziest BBQ happened here

And so I served cake and much merry-making ensued. I guess all’s well that ends well, right?

Grandpa’s birthday speech

I hope I will never know the hard times my grandpa has known but I love him all the more for his strength in weathering them and coming out the other side a better man.
